My Return To Stockholm

I've been trying to find some time to write about my adventures in Stockholm about two weeks ago. The time has just flown by, and it seems that there hasn't been a moment to tell you all about my fun. I have lived in Stockholm, not for very long, nine beautiful months. I was 25 yrs old and it was really the first time I'd lived so far away from my family. I honestly believe that 25 is one of the more important years of a persons life, or at least a woman's, that nine months in Stockholm was one of the most life changing experience I've ever had. It toughened me, showed me what I could do, it also made me realised how much we all need a support system. Stockholm was my love, I fell head over heels with the city and I've heard others tell me the same story, Stockholm is a city to fall in love with. So when, after nearly five years, I decided to have a weekend with my darling Moi to visit another friend of ours, the enchanting Kitty Cat, but I was nervous. What if I didn't feel the love again? What if it was an anti-climax? I felt like I was going to see a long distance boyfriend, with that dread of it not being the same as it had been before.

Then I saw this, and all the feelings came rushing back. All the doubts were gone, blown away in the second I arrived in the magnificent city. It truly is a stunningly beautiful city, full of that charm that is usually associated with more southern european cities. My travelling companion watched as I felt emotional about getting on the T-Bane and travelling into the city centre.

Stockholm Palace, the official home of the Swedish royal family, although not the private residence. Still its very impressive, it's definitely worth a visit, if your in Stockholm, even if its just to flirt with the very polite guard.

He was very polite, and obviously very focused on his job. Not even my beautiful friend could tempt him out of his box. After we had looked around the courtyard of the very imposing Palace we continued on, through Gamle Stan, one of my very favourite parts of the city. Crammed with it alleys and shops, filled with boutiques and specialist shops that tempt you into a new lifestyle.

I think that I've missed Gamle Stan the most, and now I'm determined to find the Bergen version. Although it mighn't be exactly the same I want to find the spirit of Gamle Stan in Bergen. We were in Stockholm for three glorious days. If I showed you all the pictures this blog would be even LONGER! However, I hope that this has given you a taster of Stockholm and maybe even inspired a trip there. Over and out!
