Ramblings Wrapped in my Blankets

I live in the Northern Hemisphere, so November is a chillier month for us, and whilst we are enjoying a mild autumn here in this part of the UK, the nights are drawing in and the weather is getting decidedly wintery.

The commercialised festival of Samhain is over, people have decaying pumpkins lying around their front doors, and the popular festival of Saturnalia is about to strike. In fact all the shops are already selling their little souls out for the barely a week of pagan ritual gift giving that will happen in December.

I don't have a recipe for you.

In fact I'm not really sure what I'm going to write about today. I feel like I should be giving you recipes for hot chocolate and S'mores, but as much as I like those things, and really all comfort food in general, I don't have any spectacularly interesting recipes for them, at least nothing I didn't find on Pinterest.

So this is really an update I guess.

Lets see who's willing to read it.

This time of year makes me want to curl up on the couch, with a hot drink, a good book/movie and knit till my fingers fall off.

Which is probably why I started a knitting project not so long ago for a blanket, I'm aiming for a double bed sized blanket, and I found some pretty wool in a local Pound shop also known as Dollar store in the USA.

Its not very far along as I've also been doing a jigsaw puzzle on my living room floor, which keeps me fairly entertained in a quiet way.

I've done a little baking, little being the operative word, as I made one small apple crumble this week. I should have taken a photo but I ate it already. I watched catch-up tv and happily smiled as they announced the winner of GBBO. Yes I know I'm behind the times, but I only have catch-up tv!

I was just thinking if I had any blogs of any worth around this time of year, and I can't find anything but one post about hot drinks. I do remembering making pickled pumpkin but I think I used someone else's recipe, this one as far a I can remember, I never made it before but this was my favourite thing to do with pumpkin, and it's so good with rich meats like Turkey or Duck. It makes a cute present too! Then of course, you can always try the lazy lentil soup. Its fairly hearty and is a delicious comfort food for cold days, especially with warm fresh bread!

I think I'll leave this as if for this week and come at it again next week!

All comments welcome!

Until next week!
